imgres-5After reading Disney stories to the six-year-old for the second night in a row, I finally lost my patience (specifically with the Little Mermaid) and figured this could be a teaching moment.

“I don’t understand these girls Hads.  They are so weak.  Why is she waiting all her life and even losing her voice just so some boy would kiss her?  Why doesn’t she take the initiative and kiss they boy without losing her identity?”

She nodded her head but didn’t say anything.

The next morning:  “You know what BB?”

“What Hadster?”

“I decided I’m going to be strong. I’m going to kiss all the boys I like.  I won’t wait for them.”

“BOYS?!” Oh brother.

I usually take pride in the lessons I teach the girls, even boast about them.  How do I explain this one to her parents?
